Was listening to a young man's testimony at church today. He's a recent convert and was talking about his past life where he often knocked himself up with alcohol, did a lot of drugs—smoked a lot of weed especially while studying in university...even had an overall dark outlook on life. It got so bad to the point he would sometimes burst out crying in public.
He was struggling with anxiety and depression so because of that he also underwent a lot of prescribed medications. He felt suicidal. One day while feeling at his worst, he was on the bus and a group of missionary sisters went up to him. They invited him to learn about the gospel with the elders (missionary brothers). At that time he felt desperate so he decided to take the offer. At first he felt unconvinced about the teachings of the gospel but eventually his spiritual faith unleashed and his spiritual strength grew. He even mentioned how the spiritual high one gets from praying or from growing one's spiritual faith feels way much better than all the drugs he did. Yeah man, that high is all natural. Doesn't come from a substance, comes from within. And yeah it feels dang good.
Saved by the gospel and God. He cleaned himself up. He cleaned up his act. He cleaned up his mind—his outlook on life. He's happier today than he was before...and when he mentioned this, he was smiling....a real smile. And I feel happy for him.
His testimony touched my heart.
